Thursday, March 28, 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Animas Valley Elementary School
Superintendent Dr. Karen Cheser invites everyone – students, staff, families, community members – to listen and contribute to the ever-evolving story of Durango School District 9-R. Twelve meetings in March and April will be spread across our schools. Board of Education members and other school and district leaders also plan to be in attendance.
The event will include:

* Celebration of the district’s good news and each school’s successes
* Sharing goals for the future from our Long-Range Planning Committee
* Describing the district’s specific facilities and funding needs
* Gathering feedback from attendees and encouraging engagement

2024 Read-a-Thon
2022 Read-A-Thon
Animas Valley Elementary School Booster Club has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year!
Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-a-thon starts Monday February 7, 2022.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/bWwPCF/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,
Animas Valley Elementary School Booster Club
Halloween Edition: October 2020 Update

We are not planning a fundraising or our traditional Booster Club sponsored school events this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Please Help an AVE family pay for Leukemia Treatment
Many of you may remember the amazing apple pie fundraiser that the Berghoff family held last year to help Dominik Fisher and his family after his diagnosis of leukemia. He is doing well but continues with treatment for a little over another year. Natasha, his mom, has started a gofundme page to help with expenses. Please consider helping this terrific family!
Shop on AmazonSmile and Amazon will donate to Animas Valley Elementary School!
Although we all try to go Local First, there are times that we simply cannot find a special item or gift locally. With the holiday season upon us, if you do any on-line shopping at Amazon, you can also give to your child’s school, Animas Valley Elementary School.
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support the Animas Valley Elementary Booster Club every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to the AVE Booster Club.
Get started with these easy steps:
1.) Visit smile.amazon.com. It’s just like shopping on amazon.com.
2.) Sign in. Simply use your existing Amazon credentials. If you don’t have an account, you can create a new one.
3.) Start shopping! After you’ve chosen your charity (Animas Valley Elementary School Booster Club), your shopping experience will be the same as it is on the Amazon website. And there’s no extra cost for you at checkout! Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of your purchase, excluding shipping, handling and tax, to the AVE Booster Club.
4.) Please remember to shop our smile.amazon.com link every time. Purchases on the main Amazon.com site do not support AVE. To help remember, bookmark our smile.amazon.com link.
5.) Spread the word! Once you’ve checked out, Amazon makes it easy to spread the news with your friends and family by giving you an option to share on Facebook and Twitter. Please be sure to let everyone know you've supported the Animas Valley Elementary School Booster Club by including the #StartWithASmile hashtag.

2017 Fun Run canceled due to weather
Hello!
Unfortunately, the wet and cold weather has presented us with a problem. We don't feel that the kids can safely run in mud, on wet grass, and through the school on slippery linoleum.
We have consulted with Mrs. Brammer, and have decided to cancel the 2017 Fun Run. There are no other available days in the remainder of the school year to reschedule, therefore there will be no alternative date.
Thank you so much to everyone who has volunteered! Keep a look out for future opportunities!

BIG NEWS: 2017 Auction is ONLINE!
This year, the AVE Booster Club has posted all of our silent auction items on a special bidding website. In order to view and bid on our auction items this year, simply visit www.biddingowl.com/aveboosterclub and take 30 seconds to set up an account. This format has several exciting features that should improve the auction for bidders and boosters alike. Here are a few of the new features:
- Advanced bidding available - The auction is open and items are available for bid RIGHT NOW, from your phone or computer. The auction will close at the end of the evening. Any winners present will pay online, and receive their prizes at the event.
- Remote bidding available - Unable to make it to casino night? Don't want to lose your spot at the poker table? Have friends or family out of town who want to support your children's education? The online format means that anyone with a Bidding Owl account can bid any of our auction items! Don't miss out on the Golden Getaway, Napa Wine Tasting, Purgatory Condo Weekend, or any of our other prizes just because you won't be at the event! Event attendees will be able to bid right from their smart phones without ever giving up that seat at the poker table, or losing their dice-throwing mojo!
- Bidding notifications - Bidders can choose to be texted or emailed when a higher bid is placed for their item. Want to make sure you don't miss out on the Trimble passes or that photo facial? Just set an alert, and be notified when it's time to up the ante.
All bids will be placed online this year - including bids for class art projects - in order to streamline the bidding and payment process. To hit the ground running, take a moment to set up an account now. There will be a limited number of volunteers available to help set up accounts, but bidders will need to have a smart phone, and helpers will need access to bidder phones in order to set up accounts.
